This piece is part of a series of moth artworks that also includes a Tiger Moth, a Luna Moth, and a Decorated Beauty Moth and a few others. The series is about capturing the beauty of moths that might otherwise go unnoticed. I am drawn to their quiet elegance and intricate patterns. Where did you create it — on location or in the studio? How long did it take? I worked from reference photos for accuracy but aimed to keep the marks and textures expressive rather than overly precise. I created it in my studio where I do most of my pastel work. The process took a few hours spread over two sessions so that I could step back and return with fresh eyes.
